¡No bird present in Parque Cóndor was taken directly out of its natural habitat!

Many of the species which found a home in the park are rescued from illegal captivity or inadequate housing. Sometimes these animals arrived in a very bad shape, but here the find shelter, rest and a proper treatment to recover. If possible, they will be released again in their natural habitat.

Unfortionally there exist illegal traffic and illegal hunting of wildlife in Ecuador. The police is not able to control these activities. Besides, only prosecuting persons who are committing these offences and so are putting in danger the existence of certain species, like the Andean Condor, national symbol of Ecuador, is not enough. There are probably only 60 condors left in the wild, and we need to improve the fate of this mighty bird first of all through environmental education.
